Lusin’s Theorem and Bochner Integration

Abstract. It is shown that the approximating functions used to define the Bochner integral can be formed using geometrically nice sets, such as balls, from a differentiation basis. Moreover, every appropriate sum of this form will be within a preassigned ε of the integral, with the sum for the local errors also less than ε. All of this follows from the ubiquity of Lebesgue points, which is a co...

On volumes generating the same lebesgue-bochner integration.

Introduction.-Let R,Y be the space of reals and a Banach space, respectively. The norm of elements in these spaces will be denoted by |. A nonempty family of sets V of an abstract space X will be called a pre-ring if for any two sets A,,A2a V we have Ai nA2G V, and there exist disjoint sets B1,..., BkEV such that A1\A2 = B1U ... UBt. A nonnegative finite-valued function v on the pre-ring V will...

Product Integration

This is a brief survey of product-integration for biostatisticians. 1 Product-Integration Product-integration was introduced more than 110 years ago by the Italian mathematician Vito Volterra, as a tool in the solution of a certain class of differential equations. It was studied intensively by mathematicians for half a century, but finally the subject became unfashionable and lapsed into obscur...

Newton-Product Integration for a Stefan Problem with Kinetics

Stefan problem with kinetics is reduced to a system of nonlinear Volterra integral equations of second kind and Newton's method is applied to linearize it. Product integration solution of the linear form is found and sufficient conditions for convergence of the numerical method are given. An example is provided to illustrated the applicability of the method.

Nonstandard Proofs of Herglotz, Bochner and Bochner-Minlos Theorems

We describe a unified approach to Herglotz, Bochner and BochnerMinlos theorems using a combination of Daniell integral and nonstandard analysis. The proofs suggest a natural extension of the last two theorems to the case when the characteristic function is not continuous. This extension is proven and is demonstrated to be the best one possible. The goal of this paper is to show how the classic ...
